50th Anniversary: The Sorrows
The Coventry band return to Wycombe to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and will take you through their extensive back catalogue.
Founder members Don Fardon and Phil Packham and their cohorts still sound as raw as ever, and with classics like 'Take A Heart' 'Car A Lin' and 'Teenage Letter' you can't go wrong.
The Sorrows
The Sorrows are considered perhaps to be the archetypal freakbeat band. They were formed in 1963 in Coventry by Pip Whitcher.
Their hallmarks are boomy, raucous vocals, lightning fast guitar solos and frantic thudding drums. The musicianship is excellent, yet the band failed to achieve too much success, probably due to the fact that their brand of proto-punk rock and roll was simply too ahead of its time.
