Voewood Festival 2012: British Sea Power
Described recently by Time Out as ‘the perfect English Festival’, Voewood Festival's jewel like programme has something for everyone with incredible names from the worlds of literature, food, film and art including: DBC Pierre, winner of the Booker Prize in Literature; Stephen Frears, Oscar-nominated director of The Queen; Antony Gormley, winner of the Turner Prize; Giles Coren, restaurant critic for The Times and exemplary food writer; and the legendary Diana Athill. In addition, there will be fabulous live music from Billy Bragg, British Sea Power, Beth Rowley and former Sex Pistol, Glen Matlock, as well as a performance to remember from the inimitable Howard Marks. The Libation Library will be serving a selection of fabulous drinks from 11am and the pop-up restaurant Brindisa a selection of delicious tapas.
British Sea Power are Yan, Noble Hamilton, Woody and Eamon. The band began life in Cumbria, 2001, and after a few relocations gained an enormous reputation in Brighton and then Europe, as tour supports to such greats as Interpol and The Flaming Lips. By the end of 2004, they were known worldwide, receiving acclaim as 'the best band in Britain' (Sunday Times) and attaining the Time Out award for Live Band Of The Year. It's quite remarkable that in this short time, BSP have established themselves as one of Britain's most noteworthy bands.
