Frank Turner played The Jailhouse in Hereford in 2007. He was paid £100 and a bottle of wine.

Since then he’s played the Olympics opening ceremony, the main stage at the Reading and Leeds festivals, toured the world supporting the likes of Green Day, The Offspring, and Flogging Molly amongst others, and headlined his own arena tour including a date at The O2 in London.

Despite all this, the one constant is that he’s never forgotten his roots. When he heard The Jailhouse was due to close at the end of the year, due to the increased pressure of running a venue in the current economic climate, he was quick to mention it on his social networks, and a plan was quickly hatched to bring him back.

Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls will play at The Jailhouse on Thursday 27th November.

This is the smallest show Frank will have played in a very long time and, along with XFM’s Winter Wonderland at Brixton Academy, one of his final shows of the year. For comparison, Brixton Academy is 5000 capacity, and The Jailhouse is just 300.

This will be a very special evening and although it’s too late to save the venue from closure, at least it’ll go out with a bang.
