What is a home and why do we seek it? Most people associate 'home' with a locale and a sense of security – but as art psychotherapist (and curator) Kelly Jayne points out, home is "a place within our selves".

For Sue Williams the concept fires her preoccupation with the 'slippage' between what is meant and what is said – and has implications for our sense of identity and the relationships that we build around us.

For Shani Rhys James 'home' inspires personal memories of longing for Australia after her mother brought them to a wintery London and a series of implacable bedsits ("Always a bed with a red blanket and white sheets...").

The likes of Matthew Kirshanu or Ingrid Christie mediate the concept through consciously aesthetic values (“The gestural marks in my work reflect brief encounters within the shifting landscape of Morecambe Bay,” says Ingrid).

This is a unique exhibition with a mix of media and extremes of scale that has been assembled, quite deliberately, from artists around the UK. "They literally bring their home to a new, temporary 'home' in the gallery where each image captures a feeling or element of the theme" says Kelly Jayne
