Zigaboo Modeliste is acknowledged as one of the founding fathers of funk. His distinctive drum style set the beat that New Orleans grooved to for over a decade - must notably through his time with legendary funk outfit The Meters and the distinctive drum style that defined the sound of their hits, including "Sophisticated Cissy", "Cissy Strut" and "Look-ka Py Py".
