This summer Guildford Shakespeare Company presents two of Shakespeare’s most popular and well-loved titles in their 9th open-air season. Twelfth Night kicks the season off in June, amidst the leafy surroundings of Guildford Castle Gardens, 12-28 June.
In July, poignantly staged in the weeks leading up to the national commemoration of the outbreak of the First World War, GSC relocates to Guildford Cathedral for Henry V.
A celebration of the power of theatre, imagination and the English language, Henry V is a sweeping story of victory over adversity. Renowned for their fresh and vibrant re-telling of Shakespeare's plays, Guildford Shakespeare will for the first time make use of dramatic outdoor lighting to place this iconic building centre stage. Director Caroline Devlin reunites with lighting designer Declan Randall (Othello, Macbeth) to stage Shakespeare’s rousing hymn to England like never before.
