Mozart And Beethoven
This concert features two of the truly great composers of the classical period. From Mozart you will enjoy the sparkling energy of the ‘Figaro’ Overture, and the far from ‘solemn’ choral writing of the Vespers, which includes one of Mozart’s best-known arias, Laudate Dominum. Finally, the virtuosic brilliance of the Exsultate, jubilate for soprano and orchestra reveals Mozart at the very peak of his composing career.
Beethoven was heavily influenced by the work of both Mozart and Haydn, and the Mass in C combines choral writing of energy and profundity with movements in which the quartet of soloists are given the spotlight. Southern Pro Musica will be performing too as part of its ‘Music for Guildford’ season.
