‘A Sea of Poppies’ Community Poppy Project

The National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth is joining forces with the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport in a project to invite local residents to commemorate the bravery of the men and women who served their country during the First World War in a major Art Installation.

You will be given the opportunity to create a ship or submarine crest and knit or crochet a poppy to commemorate the losses during WW1.

FREE workshops will run for people to discover more about the many losses incurred by both the surface fleet ships and those beneath the waves. There will be the opportunity to handle some genuine artefacts that are not on display, talk to our experts and share stories.

All abilities are welcome, to book and guarantee your place on the FREE workshops please contact Kat at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum on 02392510354 ext 237 or email Katrina.henderson@nmrn.org.uk
