English String Band

Back by public demand this is the second of a limited season of three dances. And what better band to celebrate the return of GBH Ceilidhs than to book one of the most exciting groups in the country, The English String Band.

The line-up of the nine-piece band consists of some of the finest folk fiddle, viola, cello and string bass players in the country to produce a sound that is as great to listen to as to dance to.

Calling the dances will be Barry Goodman, one of Godalming Borough Hall's favourite dance callers who will ensure that everyone, newcomer and experienced dancer, has a good time.

GBH Ceilidhs have been going since 1976. The raison d'etre has always been to book the best and most exciting English folk dance bands and dance callers from all over the country. Experts and newcomers are all welcome, especially the latter as it is important that we keep the tradition alive and thriving.
