Never miss another 'Liz Lochhead' show
Meet The Makar: Liz Lochhead
Even before her appointment as Scotland’s National Poet, Liz Lochhead embodied much of what makes Scottish poetry distinctive: compassion, humour, her words intimate and yet able to communicate with all walks of life.
“The point of the Makar role is to ?ght the corner for poetry. I want to do that in a down-to-earth way, because to a lot of us, Scots poetry is a right, something as natural as a song and a dance.”
Come along this afternoon to hear Liz discuss her role as the National Poet. Hear her read from her own work, talk about what first inspired her to write and what continues to shape her poetry.
Liz Lochhead
One of Scotland's most admired poets and playwrights, known for her irreverent, funny and, at times, scathing work. Her plays include 'Bagpipe Muzak', 'Mary Queen Of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off' and 'Dracula'.
