Traces

Looking to link two art forms in movement and in space, "Traces" follows on from earlier developmental periods at Citymoves and Dance House. Born initially from the work between Dominic and Penny as an artist and model, this piece seeks to blur any set roles of artist and muse, both are the same.

The work began in Aberdeen, originally with fellow dancer Lucy Boyes, working upon the idea of leaving traces of movement material in space and time. Early ideas sought to capture these traces of movement on paper, and feed these back into the performance with the idea of creating an installation without hierarchy between dancer and artist, looking to place these two art forms on a level playing field and see either/or as movement or captured movement.

During the second residency with Dance House, Glasgow we sought to focus on the role of the visual artist as both a performer and a live documenter, and the performer as a visual artist - blurring the boundaries between documentation, performance and dance.
