David 'Heavy' Whalley

We know that winter can be a tough time for the adventurous type. You either face up to freezing temperatures and head out on the icy roads, climbing snowy hills, or you put your feet up and become steadily bored out of your mind!

But never fear, Outfit Moray have come to the rescue, giving you something to look forward to in those long winter evenings of early 2015 - The Spirit of Adventure Talk series. Come along and have a bite to eat and grab a beer from the Windswept Bar, then settle down to hear from an adventurer who really has been there and done that. They may even have the T-shirt!

First up is mountaineering legend, and Outfit Moray patron, David ‘Heavy’ Whalley - who served in the RAF Mountain Rescue Team for 36 years and was involved in over 1000 Mountain and over 80 Aircraft incidents in mountainous areas, including the Lockerbie Disaster.

'Heavy' has been awarded the BEM, MBE and Distinguished Service Award for Service to Mountain Rescue. Hear all about his trip up Everest and of the many lives he’s saved during his tenure as a Mountain Rescue Leader, with some top tips for Mountain Safety thrown in. The evening will come to a close with a Question and Answer session where you can ask Heavy anything that comes to mind!
