Takedown 2015

The Takedown Festival is a one-day Heavy Rock and Metal event that takes place in Southampton. Set up in the campus of the local university, it gives sign of the beast waving festival heads a chance to sample five different stages of head-banging musical entertainment. This is usually one of the earliest appearances on the UK festie calendar, taking place in March - long before the similar summer events of Bloodstock and Download.

Takedown is a great event for both those looking to explore the Heavy Metal genre and hardened fans, as the line up tends to take in many different sounds from the scene to create a varied and exciting line up. Be aware that each venue on the site has a limited capacity, so arrive with plenty of time to space if there’s an act on the line-up that’s caught your attention.

There are fully licensed bars on site and you can get your energy levels up with plenty of hot and cold food stalls. The music stages close at 10.30pm, but those still with enough party and fun in their bloodstream can continue long into the night at The Cube venue in the students union – be aware that you will need to buy a separate after-show ticket in order to attend.
