Summer Beer Festival

It’s that time again when The Cumberland Arms brings you its Summer Beer festival.

Not satisfied with providing 40 Cask, 10 Keg Beers and 30 Ciders there will be a host of family friendly fun, an amazing line up of the best home grown music, not to mention extremely tasty food. From midday on Friday 18th we will bring you Beer & Cider that celebrates the traditions of brewing in this country as well as showcasing those brewers forging ahead with new approaches and new ideas locally, nationally & Internationally.

There will be tunes to accompany your evening from Tim Shaw and we’re pleased to introduce a brand new local brewery Northern Alchemy, who will be launching on the Friday night with 4 keg lines. You’ll be able to meet the brewer too as they will be serving you! So newly established that the paint is barely dry yet, Northern Alchemy are a brand new micro brewery joining the exciting ranks of new 'craft' breweries who are creating small run, flavour led beers for those who like to explore with their taste buds. Wanting their beers to do the talking, this is as much hyperbole as you'll get from them. Although they are quite proud of their use of the word hyperbole!
The Beer Festival continues through Saturday 19th with a great night of Free Ping Pong from 7pm and this year we have decided to pack it all in on the Sunday 20th and bring together something for the whole family. The festival’s last day will see story telling from the ingenious and creative Doom & Bloom, a chance to have a go in the gorgeous Moon Booth Photo Booth, join in with a host of Funfair games and enjoy face-painting, balloon animals and candyfloss! The line-up of fantastic live music this year is sure to have you dancing by the end of the night; we have Kentucky Cow Tippers, The Sandboys, Sharks Took The Rest, Tim Shaw and finishing off with The New York Brass Band!

For our festival food we’ve asked two of the North East’s best street food vendors to come and supply the food for us! We will of course still be serving our own cheese, pate and deli boards with homemade chutneys and pickles all weekend but on Friday night we have Riley's Fish Shack cooking fabulous locally caught fish and on Sunday we welcome the Fat Hippo’s Little Hippo who will be cooking up their delicious burgers.
