The Rickmansworth Festival takes place on the third weekend of May every year and celebrates canals, the community and the environment. It is the highlight of the town’s annual calendar and finale of Rickmansworth Week.
The Rickmansworth Festival is an annual May weekend event that offers canal boats on show, live music and an Environment Fair where conservation is key.
The festival attracts local amateur groups and semi professional acts, many from West Herts College.
Entertainment and enjoyment for all tastes is on offer with three stages at the Aquadrome, Batchworth Lock and in the beer tent (acoustic only). Music starts from mid-morning on Saturday and Sunday and ends in the evening at the Aquadrome by 10:30pm Saturday and 5pm Sunday.
The festival has up to 50 stalls with environmental organisations and trusts such as Groundwork and Friends of the Earth. Visitors can also take time to browse the wares of the traders from boats – with crafts that are different to what might be found on the high street. A tug of war knockout between the boaters is taken very seriously as a matter of pride and prowess – but it is also a great spectator event. There's also a visiting animal farm, plenty of hot food on offer and a beer tent.
Although this is a free event, donations are encouraged!
