International Blacksmithing Festival

A major International Festival of Blacksmithing, the like of which has not been seen in the UK this century, is coming to Westpoint in August.

The event will showcase and celebrate the Best of Blacksmithing from around the world, the people who participate in this ancient but essential craft, its historic roots and its relevance and place in today's society.

Open to the public, this important event will include demonstrations by some of the finest blacksmiths, metalworkers and artists from Europe and beyond. Other attractions will include: trade stands, local produce stalls, old fashioned amusements, morris and Irish dancing, traditional musicians, blacksmithing competitions, master classes, Medieval Enactments groups, celebrity chef, falconry display, children's forging and many other activities.

The event will include an International Team competition. Each team will be required to make a panel to a particular theme which will be presented to Westpoint Exeter. In addition there will be competitions for individuals and full time students.
