Valentines Ball : Smerin's Anti-Social Club
After the sell-out success of July’s museum party, Cabaret Voltaire returns to RAMM to present a Valentines’ Ball with a 1920s theme.
Smerin’s Anti-Social Club will play as their album release party, there are free swing dancing lessons and ElectroSwing DJs and 1920s fancy dress will be required of you.
Smerin’s Anti-Social Club is a nine piece swing / funk / ska band famed from its festival performances around the world.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s an after-party at the Cavern Club next door.
Smerin's Anti-Social Club
Smerin's Anti-Social Club have been tearing up the South Coast with their brass-heavy blend of funk, dub, latin and ska music since 2001. Starting out playing at their own ever popular events at the Talking Heads in Southampton, they have progressed to regular club gigs in Cardiff and London, and toured round Cornwall and the South West gaining a large following along the way.
The 10 piece lineup use the raw ingredients of ska, funk, dub, drum'n'bass and swing to full effect in their epic, brass-heavy instrumentals. Regular guest vocalists - including sassy Aussie songstress Nuala Honan - are bringing new dimensions to the band, but their sound still ripples with the unmistakeable energy, colour and humour that has always defined their unmissable performances
