Celebrating Iona

In May 2013, the community of Iona celebrates the 1450th anniversary of Columba's arrival on the island, and the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Iona Community. The library are joining the celebrations with this display of items from the collections, all of which have an association with Iona.

The centrepiece of the display is the medieval illuminated manuscript, The Iona Psalter. This devotional work was probably written in Oxford in the late 12th century, possibly for Beatrix, the first Prioress of the Iona Nunnery, and is one of the Library's great treasures.
