Pastels & Watercolours By Pauline Scott / Pastels By Chris Johnson

Pauline Scott of Ringwood brings her first Art Exhibition to the Regent in Christchurch from Saturday 13 April – Friday 3 May, when she will be exhibiting over 25 of her pastels and watercolours. Art has been part of Pauline’s life for as long as she can remember. However, it is only in recent years that she has specialised in Animal Art, after retiring from teaching, where she held the position of Art co-ordinator.

Pauline’s main work is creating pastel portraits from photographs of people’s cats, dogs and horses (or any other pet)! The aim of each portrait is to capture the true character, personality and expression of the pet enabling people to enjoy and cherish them for a lifetime. She has always had a great love and affinity for animals and have never been without a pet, so to draw them seemed a natural extension. The key to capturing the spirit, personality and character of an animal is through the eyes, when this is right the rest follows.

Pauline has also developed a portfolio of wildlife Animal Art, after joining the ‘Marwell International Wildlife Art Society’. Through the society she had the opportunity to go on Safari to Botswana and see these magnificent animals first hand in their natural habitat, which was such a privilege. Pauline has also exhibited her work at their Annual Art Exhibition.

Joining Pauline, will be Chris Johnson, a self-taught artist who is a retired dentist. His love of sailing gave him the inspiration to paint traditional Mediterranean fishing boats and classic racing yachts. He also specialises in portrait painting. He spends half the year living in Mallorca and the rest of the year in Poole.
