Bristol: Ambitious City

Bristol is no graveyard for ambition. A newly elected Mayor; a commitment from Mary Portas, the Queen of Shops; a bid to become European Green Capital; and a significant year of change ahead, all indicate a bright future for the city. A city that could look and feel very different in its new incarnation.

The city’s most visionary ambitions – covering all levels from individuals to large organisations – lie at the heart of a new exhibition curated by the Architecture Centre.

A packed exhibition and events programme presents new and unknown visions alongside more established civic ambitions. Individuals, groups and organisations are invited to identify and comment on opportunities for improvement and future development in an interactive city map. They can also make use of a pop-up space to propose, illustrate and discuss their ideas with the public.

The exhibition will use five themes to identify different areas of ambition for the city. Drawing on existing exemplars from individuals and groups alongside city-wide plans the exhibition will also be asking what Bristol’s ambitions should be:
