The Rise And Fall Of The City Of Mahagonny
The city of Mahagonny promises a world without laws, where money governs all and the only goal is pleasure. As the price of whisky plummets, and a hurricane heads towards them on a path of destruction, the city's visitors - lumberjacks and prostitutes alike - are forced to re-examine the rules under which their lives have so far been governed.
Weill and Brecht's genre-blurring political work, and the uncanny dystopian future painted within it, are re-imagined by a talented ensemble of young singers in the site-specific setting of Tutu's Nightclub.
The first student company to produce this work in over twenty years, King's Opera are grateful to the Kurt Weill Foundation and the King's College London Annual Fund, whose generous support has made this production possible.
A night of whisky, sex, money, excess, cabaret, fire and fantastic music!
Over 16s only.
