Henry Moore And The East End

The Foundation is lending four sculptures and five drawings to the exhibition Henry Moore and the East End at the Museum of London Docklands in support of the campaign to keep Draped Seated Woman (LH 428) in Stepney.

The display explores the history of Henry Moore's Draped Seated Woman, the sculpture known as Old Flo. The exhibition also offers a glimpse into 1950s East London and a sense of why public art was considered an important aspect of housing developments at the time.

The exhibition also contains a series of maquettes, or scale models, created by Moore such as Working Model for Draped Seated Woman: Figure on Steps to visualise and test the artwork ahead of production. These models give Londoners the chance to see Old Flo, albeit in a scaled-down form. The full scale artwork is currently sited at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
