Sandown Park are delighted to announce that the internationally acclaimed English Rock band Status Quo have been confirmed as the final act to perform at Sandown Park Racecourse after racing on Wednesday 16th July.
Status Quo has been rocking all over the world for six decades and to date have total world-wide record sales in excess of 118 million. They have recorded 64 British hit singles – more than any other band – 22 of which have hit the Top Ten. In total, Quo have spent in excess of seven and a half years (415 weeks) in the British Singles Chart – the eleventh highest ever.
Founded by schoolboys Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt in 1962 and after a number of lineup changes, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. The current line-up includes keyboard player Andrew Bown, bassist John ‘Rhino’ Edward and drummer Leon Cave. The first single Quo released was in 1967 with "Pictures of Matchstick Men", and the most recent being in 2010. In 1991, Status Quo received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
Racegoers will be able to enjoy a night of classic hits including Rockin' All Over the World, Paper Plane and Down Down plus songs from their latest album.
