Relief Printing Inspired By Visions Of India

Led by artist and printmaker Sarah Gittins, this workshop will take inspiration from Fred Bremner's photographs of India and the rich patterns of woodblock-printed Indian fabrics.

Drawing from the imagery in Bremner's photographs the class will learn how to create simple relief blocks from wood and string, and carve more detailed print-blocks from soft vinyl. On the second day we will then experiment with the blocks by printing on both paper and fabric, using ink and simple batik techniques.

Tickets must be obtained in advance from the Weston Link information desk at the Scottish National Gallery on the Mound or by calling 0131 624 6560
