When two respectable, thirty-something sisters and their best friend end up in jail one night there has to be a reason for it. But then Sofia´s job´s been axed, Julia´s sleeping with a patient and Emmi´s been mixing the booze and the anti-depressants. As each woman tries, but rarely succeeds, to help and support the two others, the actors recreate the bosses, spouses, lovers and children, the shopkeepers, judges and passers by with whom they seem to be eternally on a collision course with. The road to their chaotic hell is paved with good intentions, it is deeply touching and endearing. This is Almodóvar in thermal underwear as Myllyaho´s dark comedy lifts the lid on modern, urban womanhood. One thing is for certain you will look at life in a different way after spending an hour in the company of these three feisty and brilliantly crafted women.

Written by The National Theatre of Finland's Artistic Director Mika Myllyaho and directed by renowned Finnish director Irene Aho CHAOS promises to replicate the anarchic and touching nature of the original Finnish production but with a twist…Using Lothian based actresses Gowan Calder (Seen in last year's production of Death of a Theatre Critic also produced by Ace Productions) Jo Freer and Mary Gapinski this production hopes to bring something unique to the stage at The Pleasance Courtyard.
