The Art And History of The Dandy
Launched in 1937, The Dandy is Britain's longest-running comic. For 75 years, it has served up weekly portions of boisterous, anarchic fun designed to tickle the funny bones of kids of all ages. With iconic characters like Korky the Cat, Winker Watson and (of course!) Desperate Dan, The Dandy is a beloved part of British childhood.
Visit this display to find out more about the fascinating process behind the production of Desperate Dan and co, from pencil sketch to print, featuring original drawings and artboards from the archives of D.C. Thomson, alongside material from NLS collections.
