This event celebrates the publication of Keith Manley's Books, borrowers, and shareholders: Scottish circulating and subscription libraries before 1825, a survey and listing.
Dr Manley works for the National Trust at Castle Drogo on Dartmoor, and has recently catalogued the library of Agatha Christie. He is joint convenor of the Seminar in the History of Libraries which is held at the Institute of English Studies, University of London.
A joint Edinburgh Bibliographical Society and NLS event.
