Never miss another 'Terry Lees' show
Coffee Morning: Terry Lees
While Terry is on stage at the UGT, you’ll be able to buy Fairtrade coffee and tea, and home-made cakes, at the theatre coffee-bar – which, as on all Saturdays, and also Fridays, will then remain open until 4pm, for viewing of the latest art exhibition in the theatre’s foyer. On show at the moment is the work of watercolour painter Chris Liddiard, whose exhibition will last until March 30th.
Terry Lees hails from Eastbourne and is an internationally known acoustic guitarist. Terry has been playing guitar since 1960 and has played major concerts with Fairport Convention, Davey Graham, Bert Jansch, Martin Carthy and Lonnie Donegan. Terry is a well known and respected performer on the folk circuit and has also appeared on national TV and radio. He is an accomplished performer of any guitar style but his heart is in Celtic and British traditional music.
In 1975 he was second to world class guitarist, Adrian Legg, in an international fingerpicking competition. In 2000 Terry finally became ‘National Guitarist of the Year’ at the competition held at Wembley Arena having been runner-up the previous two years.
Terry is also an inspirational guitar teacher and numbered amongst his pupils are three finalists and one winner of the National Guitar Competition.
