Archway Contemporary And Gospelish Choirs
Providing the coffee-morning entertainment will be the Eastbourne branches of the Archway Contemporary and Gospelish Choirs, who’ll be making their UGT debuts. The singing starts at 10 o’clock, and, with a short break, continues until noon. Entry is free
The Archway choirs were started in Seaford by Jane Reeves, a successful businesswoman, performer and tutor, to help create a “feel-good” centre for recreational learning. The Eastbourne choirs have followed, with the launch of the Contemporary singers in late 2011, and the Gospelish choir in February 2012. Between them, they boast almost a hundred members, all from the local area.
At the Under Ground, the choirs will be performing both separately and together. The Contemporary singers will be putting their own interpretation on songs by the likes of Take That, Tina Turner and Earth, Wind & Fire. Their Gospelish colleagues are likely to launch into anything from traditional Gospel themes to the hits from the musical Sister Act. And if you want to take some of their music home with you: you’ll be able to buy copies of the choirs’ latest CD.
Throughout the morning, Fairtrade coffee and tea, and home-made cakes, will be on sale. The UGT coffee bar will then stay open until 4pm, for the first Saturday of the new foyer exhibition by Chris Liddiard, a talented watercolour artist who also produces collages, book illustrations and architectural pencil drawings.
