Gabriel Prokofiev is a magician of the sampler, creating astonishing music from everyday sounds. His eerily beautiful music to Shobana Jeyasingh’s dance piece Strange Blooms is based on samples of 18th century harpsichord music, and Cello Multitracks features 9 pre-recorded cellists with one live soloist; Steve Reich mixed with Philip Glass on speed.
