Hubbard’s Covered is Neil Yates’ 5-piece band covering the life story of one of his heroes, the great trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, from his early days on Blue Note and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in the 60s through his Grammy Award winning early 70s fusion period, his controversially commercialised late 70s albums, and his return to straight ahead jazz in the mid 80s.

The band bring back to life some of Hubbard’s classic, now standard compositions like Little Sunflower, Up Jumped Spring, Red Clay, Thermo, Byrdlike, Gibraltar, First Light and Open Sesame.
