Bournemouth artist Richard Titcumb has been Chairman of the Hengist Group of Artists for 9 years and this year is holding an exhibition of some of his own paintings.

Having sold the Hotel Sorrento in Boscombe in 2001, Richard was able to pursue his love of painting. He was first taught by his mother who was an accomplished artist and later attended art colleges in Coventry and Bournemouth. Today it is the beautiful local scenes and the changing moods of the sea and the forest that now inspire him.

Richard has shown his paintings in Bournemouth Gardens, at the Bandstand in Christchurch and at the Priory House Exhibitions. In recent years his pictures have won the coveted Priory Bowl, a personal choice of the Vicar of Christchurch; the Monica Coleman Trophy for the Best New Forest Painting and the Susan Darch Trophy for the Best Oil Painting.
