Art Exhibition: Melissa Hobson Matthews

Bournemouth based artist, Melissa Hobson-Matthews, brings her collection of acrylic contemporary abstracts for the first time to the Regent in Christchurch, from Saturday 26 July - Friday 15 August.

Melissa studied Art and Design at Bournemouth & Poole College. Her work includes contemporary abstracts and Mediterranean landscapes using bright, warm colours and fluid, blended designs. Each picture is uniquely varied in design and style. Her latest collection at the Regent was inspired by a recent cultural trip to France.

Melissa’s interest in art began with her mother’s work in graphic design. Then Melissa followed her interest in History of Art and from there to creating her own work. Today, apart from her contemporary abstracts, she also works in photography, embroidery, textiles and jewellery design. Melissa has also pursued a new artistic direction in life drawing. Melissa’ Exhibition at the Regent in Christchurch runs from Saturday 26 July – Friday 15 August. There will also be three or four portrait paintings by her co-artist, Paul Stillwell from Poole, on display as well.
