Sutton Amateur Dramatic Club present Translations by Brian Friel.

Set in an Irish Hedge School, Friel captures a clash of cultures and argues persuasively about the power that language can have in subjugating a nation. At the centre of his story is a touching love affair between a young English officer and a pretty local girl. Set in the 1830s, the school teacher, his sons and his young, and not so young, pupils possess all the wit and charm you expect from the Emerald Isle with just a hint of menace against the occupying British to give the play an edge.
