Medieval Embroidery with Tanya Bentham

Embroidery specialist Tanya Bentham will take you through the basic techniques of laid and couched work (Bayeux stitch), stem and split stitches and their variations in this special workshop. Participants will also explore the stylistic variations in beasts, both real and fabulous, found in early medieval art, from the Bayeux Tapestry to the Luttrell Psalter, including everything from bats to unicorns. If you’ve ever looked at closely at medieval art you’ll know that no artistic ability is required!
