Brit Award winners The Kaiser Chiefs play an open-air gig at Carlisle Racecourse this summer. The Leeds-based band, who have topped both the UK albums and singles charts, will perform at an evening race meeting on Saturday July 5th on a giant temporary trackside stage after the final race has finished.

The five-piece indie band performed a sell-out gig at The Sands Centre in Carlisle last February as part of a UK tour but will play to a much bigger crowd at the racecourse.

Their 2005 debut album Employment sold more than three million copies in the UK and featured hits like I Predict A Riot, Oh My God and Every Day I Love You Less And Less. It won them three Brit Awards, including Best British Group.

The group is fronted by lead singer Ricky Wilson, currently a coach on BBC 1’s The Voice, and now features new drummer Vijay Mistry, who joined last year. Original members Andrew White (guitar), Simon Rix (bass) and Nick Baines (keyboards) complete the line-up.
