The Taming Of The Shrew
Friday Night, Caroline Street. A refugee from an over-boiled stag party passes out in a shop doorway and, to his astonishment, awakes in 1950's Italy. Here, as the brash chancer 'Petruchio', he is propelled into an almighty battle of the sexes with the indomitable Kate whose own outlandish reputation proceeds her.
Meanwhile for the young student Lucentio, all that stands between him and the sweet, virtuous Bianca is a string of other bachelors - some slightly more eligable than others - and her father's absolute insistence that she shall not be married until her sister is wed. That sister is Kate.
From the director of last year's A Midsummer Night's Dream comes Shakespeare's most outrageous and affecting romantic comedy, as seen through a new lens.
