Crowds And Power
Crowds & Power takes as its starting point a real life social experiment that took place in a Californian classroom in 1967.
Pinar, a rookie drama teacher is charged with the task of teaching her class about autocracy: how does autocracy come to be? How does an autocratic ruler rise to power? In trying to find the answers she asks her group some basic questions: What do you want? What do you need? What do you fear? This performance is built on those questions and the answers she was given. Pinar uncovers more than she bargained for about the unstoppable Power of the Crowd.
Performed by all members of the Sherman Youth Theatre and Company 5, this mass ensemble piece will be an electric fusion of text, sound, movement and light.
