Caitlin
Caitlin was the wife of poet Dylan Thomas. At the start of the 70s, 20 years after he died, she started going to Alcoholics Anonymous.
Set in a circle of chairs, ready for an AA meeting, Caitlin makes a determined effort to deal with her tempestuous past. The audience sit in the circle with her, and are witness to Caitlin’s account of a relationship that was fuelled by love, addiction, jealousy and infidelity. This places the audience at the heart of a unique and powerful performance experience.
Delivered through tender, brave and fierce performances Caitlin and Dylan drink, fight, love and leave each other. The unoccupied chairs become part of the action, Caitlin sends them flying as she re-visits her chaotic life.
The creative team is joined by Sion Orgon who has created a saturating electronic soundscore that responds to the action.
In a work that reminds us that even the brightest stars are vulnerable and fallible, the audience are immersed in a compelling theatre experience that is both brutal and tender.
