The Civil Wars are Nashville folk/alt-country duo Joy Williams and John Paul White. In an age of record company meltdown and illegal downloading, The Civil Wars have bucked the trend by unexpectedly selling 220,000 copies of their self-released debut album. They received two Grammy awards for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Folk Album in 2012.
