Never miss another 'ZRI' show
Unbuttoned: Brahms & the Gypsy: ZRI
Brahms' Clarinet Quintet was originally written in 1891 for clarinet and string quartet, ZRI have re-scored it, replacing one of the violins and the viola with a santouri and accordion for the rich folk band sounds that inspired the original piece itself.
ZRI play all four movements, weaving in Hungarian dances, gypsy tunes and Jewish klezmer melodies that Brahms loved listening to in the Viennese tavern ‘Zum Roten Igel’, after which ZRI are named.
This will be one of the Apex'as 'Unbuttoned' concerts, presented in a relaxed and informal tavern-ensemble style, with the bar open.
ZRI
World music ensemble named after the Viennese tavern Zum Roten Igel, oft frequented by the classical composer Johannes Brahms.
