Jekyll And Hyde Soundtrack Tour
The haunting, shadowy soundscapes of inspired folktronica duo Nick Janaway and Sarah Owen are about to be heard across five counties in the South West as they embark on a 10-date tour.
Described by fRoots magazine as “one of the most original acts playing English folk music” their chilling and highly inventive show is an in-the-moment improvisation of sound to accompany the screening of John S. Robertson’s 1920 film Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, starring John Barrymore as the split personality Victorian scientist.
Improvised with homemade software, they conjure an edgy “other worldliness” that has to be witnessed, anticipating and reacting to the unfolding scenes of the film. All the sounds the audience will hear are created live during the performance –utilising voices, laptops, instruments and a diversity of sampled sound objects – so no two performances will be the same.
The second half of the show will see Exeter-based Sarah and Bristol-based Nick performing some of the innovative tracks from their latest acclaimed album Lips of Clay which transports nine traditional English and Welsh folk songs into surreal new soundscapes.
