Claudia Caolin Y Compania

The show creates an event committed to traditional Flamenco art (originating in the rich culture of Andalusia/ South of Spain) with authentic live Flamenco music (guitar and percussion), song and dance.

Claudia Caolin, now an established and dedicated professional in her field and known for her original choreographies, has a background in contemporary dance and has studied intensively with Spain’s most famous Flamenco teachers for decades.

In consequence of a recent change in the line up, (La Fabia sadly could not participate due to an urgent health issue), they are joined by fabulous and renowned Spanish dancer Adrian Mejias from Madrid.

The spectacle is comprised of four beautiful music numbers and five dance pieces, each with its own unique character and heritage and they dramatically depict the full range of human emotions, from venomous pits of dark despair to pure, joyful elation and celebration of life itself.

The instantly recognisable and alluring qualities of the flamenco guitar, masterly displayed by London based Tony El Despeinado and Bristol’s flamenco icon Kevin Byrne, a vocal style steeped in the Andalusian tradition of Eastern scales, (Javier Macias), and vibrant, enticing percussion, (Alejandro Moreno), spur the dancers on to cathartic climaxes of footwork and fierce emotive expression.

The artists are linked by their common desire to bring some of the ‘alegria’ and passion for life of the colourful culture of Southern Spain to the equally beautiful, if somewhat colder, Cornish shores. The unique programme promises a memorable special evening.
