Inside The Music Series - Talk 4: Dido And Aeneas

Purcell has enjoyed an enormous revival from the 1920s on, and Dido and Aeneas is held up as an icon of English opera. It is easy to see why from the music, from the well-known lament through to dynamic choruses. This talk will allow time to enjoy the richness of the score and to appreciate why, on musical merits alone, the opera has earned its seminal place in music history.
