Shostakovich - Two pieces for string octet (arr. string orchestra)
Tchaikovsky - Serenade for Strings
Alexander Sitkovetsky - violin, director
Wu Qian - piano
Formed in 1949 LMP has hosted some of the greatest stars in classical music and won the hearts of concert-goers all over the UK. They are joined this evening by two members of the Sitkovetsky Piano Trio for a performance of Mendelssohn's brilliant double concerto. The programme concludes with Tchaikovsky's iconic Serenade for Strings which remains one of the late Romantic era's definitive compositions.
