Afrovibes Festival - Rainbow Scars
Something different to finish off the festival: a theatre piece inspired by a post-apartheid story. During the post-apartheid period of reconciliation, a white middle class family adopt a black child, Lindiwe.
Fast forward to fourteen years later, Lindiwe becomes a black teenager at high school, coming to terms with her life in a changing country and she's suddenly forced to recognise her true heritage, resulting in an identity crisis.
How does an adopted teenager face their legacy, especially when that legacy is filled with cultural tradition? An extremely thought-provoking piece and a great way to finish the festival.
