Lady Chatterley's Lover: Blue Orange Theatre Company
The DH Lawrence classic adapted for the stage by Roman de Fruscan.
Connie Reid was raised in early 20th century England as a cultured, independent thinker. She goes on to marry Sir Clifford Chatterley who becomes increasingly emotionally distant. Turning to the bed of the low- born game keeper, Mellors, Connie experiences true passion and genuine intimacy for the first time. This however begins to lead to a dramatic love triangle and public scandal.
Lady Chatterley's Lover was originally published in 1928. The book soon became notorious for its story of the physical relationship between a working class man and an upper-class woman, its explicit descriptions of sex, and its use of then unprintable words. It has since been adapted for radio and for film and television several times.
In this stunning adaptation Roman de Fruscan brings all the tension and intrigue of the original to the stage allowing the viewer a unique and intense encounter.
Please note the bar is open an hour before the show at 6:45pm and 2pm for the matinee performance.
Blue Orange Theatre Company
The company was founded in 1998 by Marella Oppenheim to promote international contemporary playwrights. Their agenda is to adapt, translate and present work work by foreign playwrights previously unseen in the UK.
