Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) is the second of the four operas that form German composer Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle (cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen; The Ring of the Nibelung). It is the monumental epic tale of love greed, lust and betrayal that remains the archetype for contemporary storytelling, even in the digital age. In Norse mythology, a valkyrie is one in a group of female figures who decide which soldiers die in battle and which live.

Featuring the magnificent singing talent of Gweneth-Ann Jeffers, Stuart Pendred and Ronald Samm, under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Peter Selwyn.

A gathering of the country’s finest performers from the Hebrides Ensemble and National Youth Orchestra of Scotland explore the forbidden passion which propels us to the terrible cataclysmic Twilight of the Gods.
