Bath Fringe Festival: The Imagined Nation

Inventing Ireland through words, images and songs.

An Irish-themed show that explores ideas about national identity, myth and prejudice in a way that is both entertaining and thought provoking. Rich McMahon takes ideas about national identity, myth and prejudice and delivers them in a way that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Inspired by Rich’s own personal and musical experiences, and his interest in Anglo/Irish literature and history, The Imagined Nation combines spoken word, film collages and live music, drawing from a wide repertoire of original songs and interpretations of classics from The Dubliners to The Divine Comedy.

Born in Coventry, Rich was raised and educated in Ireland before returning to the West Midlands in the mid-nineties. He has written and performed music full-time for a number of years, as well as doing a spot of stand-up comedy and radio presenting along the way.
