Rooster
The rock’n’roll swagger of the Rolling Stones is brought thrillingly to life in Rooster, Christopher Bruce’s electrifying celebration of the swinging sixties. Sharp-suited, snake-hipped men and strong, sassy women perform virtuoso courtship dances to some of the Stones’ most famous tunes, including Not Fade Away, Paint It Black and Little Red Rooster.
Four Elements by dance legend Lucinda Childs mixes serene elegance with Jennifer Bartlett’s surreal designs and Gavin Bryars’ hypnotic score. Childs’ minimalist choreography has been described as ‘amplified simplicity, so cleverly does she take a straightforward movement...and weave it into a complex pattern’ (The Times).
Completing the programme is The Strange Charm of Mother Nature, a brand new work by Rambert’s Artistic Director Mark Baldwin. in three movements representing the origin of the cosmos, the dancers fizz with the energy of the miniscule building blocks that created life, the universe and everything.
Accompanied by live orchestral music, ranging from JS Bach to igor Stravinsky, this exhilarating programme showcases the diversity and brilliance of Britain’s national dance company.
